The Canton of Brionne offers a diverse choice of walks and panoramic views along the river Risle. You absolutely have to go to Bec Hellouin, classified as one of the most beautiful villages in France, with it’s half-timbered houses, abbey and green road (cycle & walking paths).
Another MUST visit is Harcourt; where you will discover the Domain of Harcourt with it’s medieval castle and arboretum.
It is a pleasant and calming place with a focus on nature and the practice of green tourism and local heritage. It has numerous places to stay and a wide range of leisure activities.
In the old days Brionne belonged for many years to the families of Harcourt and Lorraine.
You can attend and enjoy regular village festivals and events and be inspired by the green landscapes of Bec Hellouin and Livet sur Authou.
There are numerous routes and paths to explore the local architecture, thatched cottages, old laundry wash houses situated near rivers, streams and water mills.
